Neighbors protecting neighbors — with courage, training, and an unwavering commitment to the people and places we call home.
About Us
The Santeetlah Volunteer Fire Department has stood as a pillar of safety for Robbinsville and the greater Swain County community for generations. Our members are not employees — they are teachers, farmers, shop owners, and parents who drop everything when the alarm sounds.
From wildland fires in the Great Smoky Mountains to structure emergencies on winding rural roads, we bring specialized training and local knowledge to every call. We know these mountains, these valleys, and these people — and that familiarity saves lives.
What We Do
Rapid response to house fires, mobile home fires, and commercial structure fires across Swain County — day and night.
Specialized in mountain wildfire containment — we understand the terrain, the weather patterns, and the unique challenges of the Smokies.
Our trained volunteers provide critical first-response medical care while awaiting ambulance transport to the nearest facility.
Proactive fire safety inspections for homes and businesses, along with educational programs that prevent disasters before they start.
Coordinating with county and state agencies for lost person searches, vehicle extrication, and mountain rescue operations.
Fire safety demonstrations at schools, station tours, CPR classes, and smoke detector installation events for residents in need.
Join Us
We are a volunteer department — which means every alarm answered, every call taken, every life saved is made possible by people who choose to serve. Whether you can train as a firefighter, help with administration, support our equipment fund, or simply spread the word, there is a place for you here.
